Seattle Summers
Seattle is, without a doubt, one of my favorite cities in the country. The people, the food, the music, the landscape, its all love. Now, I have to admit, I’m a bit bias to the city because my sister lived there for a few years while she completed her PhD at the University of Washington. If you know my sister, then you know what I’m talking about. She immerses herself into the local community. She explores, researches and discovers the best restaurants, art galleries, architecture, you name it. She’s all about experiencing the culture of every place she lives (Berkeley, Oakland, Seattle, Bangalore, Mumbai, Boston, Delhi, Punjab) – yes, my sister has actually LIVED in all those cities…no, not visited, but lived, for a minimum of 3yrs in each town. I’m the polar opposite of my sister, I want to travel, I do travel, ALL THE TIME, but there’s nothing like coming home Having her as my sibling makes visiting her that much more awesome as a tourist, because I know when I land in her city, its GAME ON. She goes out of her way to make sure her guests, brother or friend, enjoy themselves to the fullest and walk away feeling connected to the city. That’s why I love Seattle, because of Preet. And when you have an awesome sister, then you better believe her network is full of awesome people too. That’s where Sabeena & Glen come into the picture. Probably one of the most incredibly artistic set of MDs I’ll ever meet…music headz & art lovers, these two know how to live life to the fullest. At their wedding, the tables were organized by favorite albums and the center pieces explained the meaning behind those records and how each tied into their personal life experience. F’ckin’ GENIUS. Sabeena could probably be an A&R exec, her taste in music is beyond eclectic. There is never a record she recommends that sucks…never. Glen, I’ve told him before, should be a professional photographer. His work is astonishing. You can’t teach someone to have an eye like that, its innate, its pure, raw talent. Yet, they both are MDs. Last summer, my mom & I traveled to Seattle for my cousin’s wedding and I got to spend a few days in the city, exploring wonderful eats, art & music while spending some quality time with the fam. One of the visual highlights of my trip was the Chihuly Garden and Glass exhibit…WHOA –> Mind considerably f*ck’d spending time in this guy’s world. Amazing, take a look…
